In Avondale Heights, two homes sit side by side on a single title, each one complete in itself. From the street they read as one considered building rather than a pair of units. That is the harder thing to do, and it is the whole point of the design.

The palette does the work. White glazed brick grounds both dwellings. Vertical timber battens run the full height of the upper level and continue across the garage doors, so the facade holds one rhythm from boundary to boundary. Greenery spills from planters at first floor level, softening the front without hiding it. Every window is double glazed and every ceiling is insulated beyond minimum, which is why these homes hold their temperature rather than chase it.

Inside, each dwelling runs four bedrooms across two levels. A guest bedroom and full bathroom sit on the ground floor, with the master, two further bedrooms, a rumpus and a study above. A mudroom off the double garage takes the daily mess before it reaches the house.
